Biden testifies to the fallen Capitol police officer Sicknick

President Biden on Tuesday night paid tribute to the late Capitol police officer Brian Sicknick, who was fatally wounded during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

The deceased of the fallen officer was transported in an urn to the Rotunda earlier Tuesday night.

The president and first lady, both wearing face masks, stood in front of the urn for a few moments, putting their hands over their hearts. Biden made the sign of the cross.

Sicknick was fatally injured in the violence at the Capitol on January 6 when a crowd of pro-Trump rioters stormed the building in an attempt to challenge the outcome of the presidential election and the counting of election college votes. The officer was among five individuals who lost their lives due to the violence.

Sicknick is one of only five individuals honored in the Rotunda. These include two Capitol police officers, Officer Jacob Chestnut and Detective John Gibson, who were killed in duty in 1998.
