President Biden this week revoked a number of executive orders issued by Donald Trump, including a call for a review of the funding given to so-called ‘anarchist’ cities.
Biden issued an executive order Wednesday night to overturn the review, which was issued in response to violent and devastating riots that have taken place in several cities.
Cities designated by the Department of Justice as anarchists included New York, Portland, and Seattle. The municipalities involved have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over attempts to withhold federal funding.
At the time, the Department of Justice said these cities had not “taken reasonable steps to counter criminal activity.”

It cited statistics showing a 166% year-on-year increase in shooting in New York for the month of August, 100 consecutive nights of chaotic protests in Portland and a 525% increase in the person’s crime rate. Seattle’s “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest” (CHOP) zone.
Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes welcomed Biden’s recall, saying he was “glad this nonsense was removed from the decks.”

Biden also revoked a 2018 order urging agency heads across the government to review welfare programs – such as food stamps, Medicaid and housing assistance – and strengthen the work requirements for certain recipients.
