Elected President Joe Biden plans to introduce an immigration bill on the first day of his government that will create a path to citizenship for millions of immigrants without documents. The legislation would allow those living in the United States from January 1, 2021, to receive a green card granting temporary status within five years, provided they pay taxes and pass background checks and then obtain naturalization within three years. During his campaign, Biden promised to “undo the damage” of the immigration policy that President Trump instituted, which was one of the most controversial and criminal administrations. Trump has made “Build the Wall” a slogan of his first campaign.
