President Biden is expected to announce a dramatic increase in the number of refugee admissions to the United States on Thursday – the last major change in his government’s immigration policy.
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters that Biden would announce orders, including “to build a more robust capacity for the United States to accept refugees from around the world.”

Biden has promised to increase the number of refugees the US brings in each year from 15,000 to 125,000. Associated Press reports that Biden will keep the promise, which will increase the ceiling to more than eight times.
That number would be 15,000 higher than President Barack Obama.
