Biden hits Texas, Mississippi for lifting coronavirus restrictions: ‘Neanderthal thinking’

President BidenJoe Biden, head of the interception bureau: minimum wage was not a ‘high priority’ for Biden in the COVID-19 relief in the South Carolina Senate, adding a firing squad as an alternative method of execution. on Wednesday denounced the governors of Texas and Mississippi for lifting coronavirus restrictions and calling the movements ‘Neanderthal thinking’.

“I think it’s a big mistake,” Biden told reporters in the Oval Office when asked about the two states that lifted their mask mandates and all capacity constraints on businesses on Tuesday.

“I hope everyone now realizes that these masks make a difference,” he adds. “We are about to fundamentally change the nature of this disease because of the way we can get vaccination in people’s arms.”

He noted that by May, there will be enough vaccines available for all adults.

“The last thing we need is the Neanderthal who thinks everything is fine in the meantime, take off your mask, forget it,” he said. “It still matters.”

“We will not vaccinate until the summer,” Biden said.

He said people should meanwhile continue to wear masks, wash their hands and remove from others.

“I know you all know that,” he told reporters. “I want to make sure some of our elected officials knew that.”

Biden’s comments point to a large increase in White House rhetoric. Public health officials reiterated earlier in the day in general terms that this is not the time to lift restrictions, but not to name specific states.

The country is in a difficult moment in the course of the pandemic, experts say, with the promise of widespread vaccinations in a few months that raises hopes for a dramatic improvement in the situation.

But experts believe recent restrictions in the last period are important before vaccines become widely available, especially with the emergence of more contagious variants of the virus.

Greg Abbott (R), Texas, on Tuesday cited the ongoing vaccinations as a reason to lift the mask mandate and all capacity constraints.

“We need to do more now to restore Texas’ livelihood and normality by opening Texas 100 percent,” he said.

The Mississippi government, Tate Reeves (R), had a similar message on Tuesday.

“Executive orders that interfere with people’s lives have been the worst, but the only possible, intervention for most of the past year,” he tweeted. “We are now focusing on the rapid distribution of vaccines. We are not trying to tell people what they can and cannot do.”
