Bettor places $ 2.3 million on Super Bowl underdog Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The biggest bet on Super Bowl LV so far is on the underdog Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

On Thursday night, a bettor in Nevada placed a $ 2.3 million bet on the Bucs +3.5 (-115) with sports book BetMGM. If Tampa Bay covers the spread against the Kansas City Chiefs, the bettor will win a net $ 2 million.

According to company spokeswoman Elisa Richardson, the bet was placed on BetMGM’s mobile app and is the largest Super Bowl bet any American sportsbook has reported since Friday morning.

With most of the early action on the favorite Chiefs, the big bet on the Buccaneers was a welcome sight for BetMGM.

“It was a bet we were very happy to receive,” Jason Scott, vice president of BetMGM, told ESPN. “We’ve written several other six-figure bets before, all in Kansas City, and the public is definitely behind Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.”

The Chiefs maintained consensus by three points and attracted 74% of the points distribution games on William Hill’s Caesars Sportsbook. The two biggest Super Bowl bets William Hill made since Friday were both on the Chiefs: $ 120,000 on Kansas City -3 (-120), and a $ 95,000 money bet on the Chiefs at -165 odds that only $ 57,575 would pay.

FanDuel and DraftKings also reported a sudden action against the Chiefs, with more than 75% of the early money the defending champion supported at each sports book.

Hundreds of millions of dollars are expected to be paid into the Super Bowl with American sports books, including a handful of seven-digit bets that appear regularly on the big game each year. The million-dollar bets are usually placed by casino VIPs, high rollers who get long betting limits. Sportsbooks do not regularly offer seven-digit bets to professional bettors or the average customer coming down the street.
