Bethesda Releases New Indiana Jones Game “with an Original Story” in Collaboration with Wolfenstein: The new order developers Machine Games, the publisher announced today via Twitter. Todd Howard, best known for his directing work on Skyrim and Outcome 4, will serve as executive producer for the title.

Bethesda said it would take a while before more details became available. The company has tentatively shared a 30-second teaser video with the opening notes of John Williams’ Raiders March and a ticking clock over a pan over a cluttered desk. The teaser culminates with an unseen hand picking up Indy’s brand hat to reveal a rolled up whip.

The history of Indiana Jones video games go back to an 1982 Atari 2600 version and feature two well-remembered SCUMM engine adventure games from the late 80s and early 90s. More recently, the franchise has come into the video game since the release of a relative drought Lego Indiana Jones 2 in 2009.

The announcement comes just one day after Disney announced the re-launch of the Lucasfilm Games brand as an umbrella covering licensed game versions of its film franchises. Electronic Arts still has the exclusive rights to games based on the Star Wars universe as part of a multi-year licensing transaction signed in 2013.

A hitherto untitled fifth Indiana Jones film is currently being released for 2022.
