The 2021 Golden Globes tonight is a hybrid presentation featuring hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, as well as presenters appearing in person at venues in Los Angeles and New York (The Beverly Hilton and The Rainbow Room) while nominees perform remotely. with many creating their own virtual red carpet moments.
Many stars embrace an overt brilliance reminiscent of the pre-pandemic that is an antidote to a year of lockouts and quarantines.
Here are the best dressed stars of the night so far:
Elle Fanning
Early in the evening, Fanning set the elegant tone and posted her look on Instagram, a custom mint green satin gown with embroidered crystal brooches, designed by Alessandro Michele for Gucci, paired with vintage diamond and platinum jewelry by Fred Leighton, including rings and bracelets from about 1915 and the 1920s.
Amanda Seyfried
Collaborates with stylist Elizabeth Stewart, the Mank nominee wore a custom gown by Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim for Oscar de la Renta, an apricot-colored wrinkled dress with a lush floral skirt off the shoulder. (Seyfried virtually attends the ceremony in Savannah, Georgia, with her family). The dress is equipped with diamonds by Forevermark, a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch and shoes by Stuart Weitzman.
Nicholas Hoult
A nominee for Hulu’s The big, Hoult announced his Golden Globes appearance on Sunday about five hours before the start of the broadcast. In his Instagram post, the actor is dressed in a double-breasted velvet tuxedo in grosgrain, a black T-shirt and velvet evening slippers, all by Giorgio Armani, fitted with a watch by Jaeger-LeCoultre.
Josh O’Connor
O’Connor, nominated for his job as Prince Charles on Netflix’s The crown, adopted a new romantic atmosphere by Harry Lambert, with a personalized two-button black tuxedo jacket from Loewe, combined with a white winged shirt and wide-legged trousers from the creative director Jonathan Anderson’s autumn / winter 2021 collection for the Madrid -based label. On his wrist he wears a Bulgari Octo Finissimo watch in steel with black dial.
Angela Bassett
Bassett, one of the awards presenters of the evening, opted for a dramatic monkey-necked crippled one-shoulder dress adorned with feathers by Dolce & Gabbana, paired with jewelry by designer Dena Kemp in Beverly Hills and Brazilian jewelry designer Graziela Kaufman.
Leslie Odom Jr.
The double nominated for A night in Miami and for the song “Speak Now” from the movie, Valentino wore from head to toe.
Second day
Day, nominated for her performance in The United States vs. Billie Holiday, is one of the actresses wearing Chanel, and chooses a gray silk tulle gown from the home’s spring / summer 2021 haute couture collection, with embroidered craftsmanship of more than 1000 hours, combined with diamonds from Chanel Fine Jewelry.
Jane Levy
Oscar de la Renta designers collaborated with Levy, a first nominee for NBCs Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, to create a midnight blue gown, combined with Jimmy Choo shoes and lab-grown diamonds from Vrai.
Dan Levy
Schitt’s Creek nominated Levy wore yellow Valentino.
Tahar Rahim
Rahim, a first nominee for The Mauritanian, wore Louis Vuitton.
