It’s no secret that the Cincinnati Bengals have to take the offense at some point this season. Many fans hope that the team does not wait for the concept to fill the gaps, and one player who can help dispel the fans’ desire to start a riot could be to go to center Rodney Hudson, who was recently released.
The former leader of the Las Vegas Raiders and the Las Vegas Raiders was inexplicably cut short by the team that only extended him last season after having another reliable season in 2020. It seems to have not slowed down yet, and he has been the anchor of talented offensive lines throughout his ten seasons.
The age and position may make some fans wonder why the Bengals would be interested. Trey Hopkins has been reliable in the center since being moved inside, but his return from an ACL suffered at the end of the season, and his return in the air. Hopkins also has a lot of experience on guard so he can kick a spot to make room for Hudson.

It also looks like the Bengals will be offensive in draft this season. This means that an experienced player like Hudson can make a call in the middle can be very helpful. Not to mention the field, from a player’s point of view, it can be explained what the protection and running blocks should look like for a group that may be hopelessly underway with new faces. The stability in the middle can be invaluable in protecting Joe Burrow next season.
The one thing that hurts Cincinnati’s chances is that they are likely to have stiff competition for Hudson. His first stop could be that his former team, Kansas City, should play for a contender. There are also teams like the Cardinals who have a great need in the middle and also closer to the west coast. The only way the Bengals have a chance is if they pay a little too much, which does not seem like something they have been willing to do so far. However, that’s the price of being a rebuilding team.
I’m not saying this lightly: Rodney Hudson is in the running for the most reliable attacking lineout in the league.
He is an absolute anchor in the middle of the line and still plays a great ball at 32 years old.

Hopefully, Cincinnati can land the veteran who is one of the better offensive lineouts in 2021. He may not be a long-term solution, but Hudson still has some good years in him. He can help a lot to improve this offense.
