Belkin’s new ‘SoundForm Freedom’ AirPods competitors can integrate with Apple’s Find My app

In addition to its new 2-in-1 wireless charger with MagSafe, Belkin also announced new SoundForm wireless earbuds today. It’s especially important that these new earbuds integrate with Apple’s Find My application, making it one of the first third-party accessories to use Apple’s network.

At WWDC last year, Apple announced that it would open its Find My application to third-party accessory manufacturers. At the time, Apple explained:

We are introducing a new program that allows customers to track your products using the large Find My network. With hundreds of millions of Apple devices around the world, advanced end-to-end encryption and leading-edge security, users can find their items in the Find My app with the peace of mind that their privacy is protected.

This means that additional manufacturers can sign up to use Apple’s technology so that the accessories can be monitored through the Find My app. Third-party accessories can benefit from Apple’s Find My infrastructure, including the ability to find it offline.

Belkin is now taking advantage of this feature with its new SoundForm Freedom True Wireless Earplugs. Belkin explains:

The new True Wireless Earplugs are also built with finding features via Apple’s Find My Network, an advanced find network with uncompromising privacy built-in, which enables customers to use the Find My app to track it in case they get lost or stolen.

Other features of the SoundForm Freedom include:

  • Charge your earbud case with any Qi wireless charger or via a USB-C port; 15 minutes charging in case offers 2 hours playback
  • Get the most comfortable fit, perfect seal and sound insulation with specially designed small, medium or large ear tips
  • IPX5 rated for sweat and splash resistance

The Freedom True Wireless Earplugs will be available from March / April 2021, but now price information has been released.
