Belkin has announced that it is releasing a voluntary recall for the “Portable Wireless Charger + Stand Special Edition” sold in Apple stores and online. As first seen by the Edge, the Belkin wireless charger is recalled due to the danger of fire and shock safety.
Belkin says it will issue a refund to all affected users. The problem is apparently caused by a “manufacturing defect in the power supply unit”, which could cause the fittings to malfunction and overheat.
Belkin has initiated a voluntary recall of all units of the Belkin Portable Wireless Charger + Stand Special Edition, WIZ003, and will refund all buyers in full. A factory fault in the power supply unit can cause the charger to malfunction and overheat, which could result in fire or shock hazard.
Belkin further writes that “if you purchased this accessory”, it is important that you stop using it immediately, disconnect it from any power source and contact us for further instructions. “
At the moment, Belkin says that ‘no injuries or property damage have been reported as a result of this defect. Only chargers sold between July 2020 and October 2020 will be affected by the recall. The relevant serial numbers contain the following sequences, says Belkin:
