Bears dealing with WR Anthony Miller discussed

The Chicago Bears continue trade talks over receiver Anthony Miller.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that the Bears have discussed a deal with Miller with a number of teams, according to sources who informed the situation.

The former second-round pick enters the final year of his rookie contract.

The rapid expansion has 134 receptions in 47 games played in three seasons for 1,564 yards and 11 TDs.

Rumors were circulating that Miller could be traded before the new league year last month because the Bears had to come below the salary cap. Despite other moves to get under the hood, the 26-year-old remains on the trading block.

The lock maven boasts superior athleticism, and has a flash of ability to play. Consistency, however, has always eluded Miller. His inability to put it together weekly has angered Bears coaches for his three seasons. Last season, Miller had just two games with more than 60 yards and 12 with less than 30 yards that, including playoffs, received with a goose egg in Week 2.

Miller ended his disappointing season by eliminating the safety of Chauncey Gardner-Johnson during the Bears result against the Saints.

An upcoming club could see Miller, who will spend 489 shots in the locker room (86 percent of his playing time) by 2020, as a tantalizing depth addition that needs a fresh start with a better quarterback situation to tap his talent unlock.

Given the persistence with which the Bears trade talks over Miller have been discussed, it is clear that the club is ready to move on. If a trade does not materialize, it appears that the fourth-year player is a cut-off candidate in the off-season.
