Bear chases down mountain in Romania: “Do not look back!”

This skier could probably not carry a minute on the slopes yet.

A young man’s quick thinking may have saved his life after he threw his backpack to distract a bear that was chasing him through a ski slope in Romania.

It was quite a spectacle on the slopes of the Predeal mountain resort in Brasov province last month, when a brown bear charged the ski tourist, reports Digi24.

CRAZY BEAR FIXED IN GELSTONE, CONFIRMED AS THE OLDEST OF THE REGION

“Faster, faster! Go, the bear is chasing you! Faster! Do not look back at God!” spectators shouted from the chair lift on January 23rd.

The skier probably threw his bag smoothly to distract the wild animal – and the gimmick bore fruit. The bear scurries to the side of the slope for further investigation, and the skier slides unharmed to safety.

“The skier did the right thing,” Ion Zaharia, a local police spokesman, told ABC News. “The bear was distracted by things in his backpack.”

“We are considering relocating the bear, which now needs to sleep, anyway, but over the past few years we have had more bears confronting skiers in the winter.”

The surprise was the third sighting of the bear that day, reports Digi24. On the same Saturday, authorities received two more calls that a bear had been spotted on the Clabucet slope. According to Zaharia, however, such fears are not uncommon for the Transylvania resort during this time of year.
