The history of the graph dates back to 25 May 1991, the first week Billboard start tabling electronically monitored information about SoundScan’s chip count, now MRC Data. Pure album sales were the benchmark used only by the Billboard 200 album chart through the December 6, 2014 list, after which the chart switched to a methodology that mixes album sales with track-equivalent album units and streaming-equivalent album units. The new January 23-dated album sales card (where Green fields bows on number 2) will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on January 20th. As for the rest of the top 10 on the latest sales chart of the best album, Morgan Wallen Dangerous: the double album, was sold at number 1 with 74,000 copies. The series is also featured on top of the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums series.
Taylor Swift’s former no. 1’s Always and Folklore is number 3 and 4 on the top album outlet, lower than number 1 and 2 a week ago, with 14,000 sales (8% lower) and 10,000 sales (4% lower), respectively.
Harry Styles’s previous leader Find ago falls 4-5 with 8,000 sales (12% lower), NCTs Resonance, Pt. 1 drops 3-6 with 7,500 (23% lower) and Jazmine Sullivan’s new album Heaux Tales bows at number 7 with 7,000 sold. The latter also started at number 4 on the Billboard 200 and on the 1st of the Top R&B albums.
Chris Stapleton’s Start over falls 6-8 on the best album sales with 6,500 (a decrease of 11%), the former no. 1 by Paul McCartney McCartney III fall 5-9 by 6000 (less than 35%) and the soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 increases by 12-10 by 5,000 sales (9% lower).
