Ronald Koeman praised the attitude of Barcelona when they completed a remarkable comeback over Sevilla in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.
After Ousmane Dembele halved it Sevilletheir total lead, Gerard Pique‘s header forced extra time and allowed Martin Braithwaite to record the decisive goal.
“We always believed,” Koeman said full time. “We never gave up on the Copa. It’s a matter of mentality.
“I, as a coach, can not ask my team to do more than what I saw tonight. We fought to extra time and it’s amazing. I’m very happy with the team’s work tonight.
“We deserved to go through. I think we were better over the two legs. We were the best team.”
The second leg victory comes just four days after a 2-0 win over Sevilla in LaLiga Santander, where they also played a 3-5-2 formation.
“It was very important for our confidence,” Koeman said about the victory in Seville.
‘The way we played there. It was our first game [with 3-5-2]. We tried to play the same game today and did it.
“We managed to score three goals and were able to score more. You can’t ask for more.”
