Many people want to show the Beosound level prominently, as it is built with pearl-beamed aluminum and has a choice of natural oak and knitted fabric coverings. The controls are integrated in the metal frame and the “buttons” are activated with touch gesture. Bang & Olufsen says the speaker “burns to greet you” thanks to proximity sensors that take into account the time of day by automatically adjusting the brightness.
To improve portability, Bang & Olufsen included a rechargeable battery that was capable of playing for 16 hours “at normal volume”. The company says this can be achieved by “intelligently analyzing the behavior and constantly adjusting the power consumption and adjustment.” B&O also made the charger a magnetic pack that claps on the back of the speaker instead of a typical plug. In addition, IP54 dust and splash resistance make the Beosound level suitable for comfortable outdoor entertaining.

Inside, a five-speaker scheme handles all your audio content. The company says its collection of two four-inch woofers, one two-inch driver for the full range, two 0.8-inch tweeters and low-distortion amplifiers can reach 79 dB bass and 96 dB loudness in the middle. The most interesting components, however, are those that B&O says will ‘fight technological aging, improve resource efficiency and improve longevity’.
The Beosound level is equipped with a replaceable power module that will provide more of the company’s emerging speakers. Bang & Olufsen explains that the section ‘for many years’ has gained enough “processing power and connectivity technology” to provide updates to improve performance and new features. The company also says the speakers ‘modular’ design enables customers to perform easy maintenance tasks, such as replacing battery, and provides service partners with better access to key components. Depending on what new audio technology becomes available, we will of course have to wait to see if this speaker can really stay up to date for ‘decades of amazing audio experiences’.
The Beosound level is on sale now for $ 1,999 (1099 € / £ 9499) in natural and gold color for $ 2,299 (1299 € / £ 10,900). The wall bracket you need to hang the speaker only comes on April 29 and it’s still $ 149 (89 € / £ 739). As in the past for other speakers, B&O promises more colors and materials for the front pages are on the way.
