I am working every day to complete Baldur’s Gate 3 experience is not out yet, but we get there. Today, developer Larian unveiled the fourth patch for the Divinity: Original Sin 2 prosecute /Baldur’s Gate sorta sequel, what it calls his “biggest patch yet.” Outstanding features include the druid class, loaded dice to prevent you from constantly failing and new corpses to communicate with if you like such things.

The druid is definitely the center here. When you play as one, you gain the ability to turn into a whole mess of animals, including a horrible wolf, a bear, a cat, a raven and a spider. In most games it would only be a combat adaptation, but in BG3, new forms mean alternative cross-options, the ability to talk to animals and new search results. On top of that, the first act of the game’s main story basically revolves around a circle of druids, which means that if you’re a druid yourself, the story will be radically different.

Other features are smaller but still striking. With loaded dice you can not use streaks of hyper-happy or hyper-unhappy roles when entering into conversations or taking actions. It seems useful, given how many times I have recharged, saving in frustration due to bad roles. That said, if you want pure RNG, you can disable the feature.

The Speak with the Dead ability has also received a major upgrade, with snazzy movies and of course more corpses. Larian points out that if you get lost because you do not pay attention to the story and just kill everyone, you can now just talk to their horrible remnants. How fun!

There are also loads of graphic enhancements and quality of life enhancements, which should please people who want to look at things and live respectively. The patch has now been released on Steam, GOG and Stadia – the latter of which can only be used if you know the Speak with the Dead game in real life.
