Avanza Pasta, LLC recalls meat and poultry products produced without inspection benefit

WASHINGTON, March 20, 2021 Avanza Pasta, LLC, an institution in Evanston, Illinois, is recalling approximately 2,237 pounds of meat and poultry pasta products produced without the benefit of federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today . .

The meat and poultry ravioli and tortellini items were manufactured on different dates from 5 October 2019 to 12 March 2021. The products that can be recalled can be found here:

The products that are subject to revocation do not contain a trade number or the USDA certification mark. These items were shipped to restaurants, distributors, and retail locations in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

The problem was discovered by FSIS during surveillance activities in the trade.

There are no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be frozen and in the freezers of consumers. Consumers who have purchased these products are asked not to consume them. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS regularly conducts recall effectiveness investigations to verify that recall firms notify them customers of the recall and that steps are taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers. If available, the retail distribution list (s) will be posted on the FSIS website, www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
