Avalanche vs. Golden Knights Score: Live Updates from Lake Tahoe’s NHL West Division

The COVID-19 pandemic taught the sports world to anticipate the unexpected, and exactly what happened on Saturday. After one period of play between the Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights at Lake Tahoe, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman joined the NBC broadcast and announced that the game would be postponed until midnight ET / 21:00 PT on Saturday due to unsafe ice conditions.

The bright sun on the clear day simply caused too many problems during the first period earlier in the day. Several players and even a referee lost their footing on soft ice. After the first period, officials tried to work with the ice and covered portions of it with sails to keep the sun from it.

During the first period of what started as the game on Saturday, the Avalanche opened the scoring with a goal from defender Samuel Girard thanks to a beautiful pass from Nathan MacKinnon. Check below for updates of the second period and more as the action takes place.
