Author explodes ‘absurd’ decision by Facebook to reject ads promoting his Abraham Lincoln book

“Old Abe” author John Cribb told Fox & Friends on Thursday that ads promoting his historical novel about Abraham Lincoln had been rejected by Facebook, calling the ruling “absurd”.

Cribb noted that the social media giant rejected the request of its publisher, Republic Book Publishers, to advertise the book “Old Abe” on Facebook, and also rejected their appeal.

He said that in December, Republic Book Publishers’ decided to do some social media advertising, and they made some very nice ads and submitted them to Facebook.

Cribb said Facebook’s reasoning was told to him, “that this ad appears to violate, according to Facebook, the ban on social issues and politics and the election, which they put in place just before the presidential election.”

Facebook did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Cribb noted Thursday that “it’s the kind of collateral damage you’re inflicting if these Big Tech giants make these comprehensive rules that affect millions and millions of people about what can and cannot be said in public.”

“Like it or not, social media is now a big part of the social square,” he continued.

Cribb then warned that “the more you get, the more they try to control their speech.”

Earlier this month, former President Trump’s Facebook account was suspended after he posted a video in which protesters storming the Capitol building erupted into violent protests that led to multiple deaths, to “go home” while insisting that the presidential election in 2020 was ‘stolen’ from him. .

FACEBOOK REVIEW BOARD TO REVIEW DECISION OF TRUMP BAN

Facebook’s supervisory board, which is reviewing the removal of accounts, plans to review the company’s decision to suspend Trump’s account indefinitely and determine whether or not the ban will be upheld.

Cribb noted on Thursday that Abraham Lincoln “was the man who led … to save our country when it literally fell apart” and “led the effort to defend our principles and help free millions of enslaved Americans.”

“You can look at someone’s life from decades or centuries ago and choose things that do not meet the 21st century standard,” he said.

“With these historical figures, you have to take it in their entirety of their actions and lives,” he added. “And to some extent, Abraham Lincoln has led a wonderful life and his accomplishments are amazing.”
