Australian weatherman pulls body out of ocean to live broadcast

An Australian TV weatherman is described as a hero after diving into dangerous waters at a local beach to recover the body of a man – while cameras have been broadcasting for just a moment after a live broadcast.

Luke Bradnam, an anchor for Channel Nine in Australia, was at Narrowneck Beach in Queensland last week and reported on the treacherous water conditions when he was informed that someone was struggling in the sea.

It was then that Bradnam quickly came into action.

“Just after I talked to you, a boogie walker back at Narrowneck warned me that he thought he was seeing someone in the surf again,” a wet and shirtless Bradnam told his fellow anchors on air. Friday ordeal.

“I immediately pulled out and raced along the boogie border to help the person in trouble,” Bradnam said.

Unfortunately, the man who ran Bradnam into the waters to save did not survive.

“As we got closer, it became clear that there was a body floating in the water and that the two of us could secure the body and make our way back … back to the beach,” the weatherman said.

The body of the man who helped Bradnam recover is believed to be 32-year-old British citizen Jake Jacobs who moved from the UK to the Gold Coast and was reported missing on Thursday, according to News.com.au.

A search and rescue mission was launched after the body of Jacobs’ swimmer was found late Thursday, reports the British Mirror. Police believe the couple swam naked on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Bradnam described the situation as ‘fairly disturbing’.

The reporter told 9News.com.au he hopes to “never experience it again”.

“At the moment I thought it was someone’s son, it’s going to bring some closure – we just have to do it,” said Bradnam, who dived into the water despite an injured shoulder.

After the incident, many viewers turned to social media to address Bradnam for his actions.

“Thank you for risking your own lives to try to save another, and although the results were not as you hoped a loved one would be with them back,” Stuart Weaver tweeted.
