Australian Pokémon Go Player ranks first at level 50 worldwide

It’s been almost two months since then Pokémon Go has raised its bar in the Go Beyond update. Moving from level 40 to 50, players have since had an uphill climb to reach this rank, one that has some entanglement with British authorities. Yesterday it finally happened as not one, but two players finally achieved this goal.

This was first achieved by FleeceKing, an Australian player who captured this moment via Twitch, but it was a close battle. Co-Australian Lauren Bertoni also reached level 50 just 16 minutes later, which made for a fierce match.

It comes as several Go players reach level 48, but are waiting for a set requirement to go through. Unfortunately, everyone found that their challenges were restored after reaching the level. This led to Niantic Lauren’s level 49 requirements are being investigated and once done, completed. FleeceKing seems to have benefited in the same way, giving them a boost in the competition.

They still had to meet all the level 50 requirements, and that’s quite a high order. These included earning a further 30m XP, achieving 999 excellent throws, achieving rank 10 in Go Battle League, 5 legendary catches from legendary encounters in a row and 3 Team Go Rocket Leader victories with Pokémon below 2500CP. A big question, but eventually they got there.

Are you still playing Pokémon Go? Will you try to reach level 50? Let us know in the comments.
