There was a big debate about Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez‘s decision not to award Real Madrid a penalty kick in Sunday’s derby in Madrid for a potential handball and Atletico Madrid officially joined the discussion.
Emilio Butragueno, Real Madrid‘s director of institutional relations, criticized the referee’s decision to stick to his original call, even after looking at the VAR monitor, and several others Real Madrid fans also hit the official.
Train, Atletico Madrid – as referee Juan Andujar Oliver – believes that the decision was the correct decision. They think it was an involuntary handball by Felipe and now they have struck back.
“They’re even criticizing the right calls …” began a tweet posted Monday afternoon.
“Some are used to always having the wind in their favor.”
There is frustration about this in the Atletico Madrid locker room too, while the players feel the same.
During the match, Luis Suarez even argued with Lucas Vazquez and refers to some of the referee calls Real Madrid received at the end of last season during their win-win match.
