Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci presents himself and faces a charge of murder

YFN Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, is currently being held in Fulton County Jail, police said. Atlanta police announced Tuesday that they are wanted on charges of murder, aggravated assault, participating in street gang activities and possession of a firearm while committing an offense.

“The presumption of innocence is a fundamental constitutional right for every citizen. In addition, we have no further comment at this time,” his attorney Thomas Reynolds said in a statement to CNN on Wednesday.

“Our review of the initial evidence made available to us indicates that there is no basis for any criminal charges against Rayshawn Bennett,” said Drew Findling, another one of YFN Lucci’s attorneys. “We will continue our own investigation on his behalf.”

Attempts to reach his record company do not succeed.

Officers responding to calls from a person who was shot on Dec. 10 at about 5:20 p.m., found James Adams, 28, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his face, according to the police incident report. Adams was taken to a hospital where he died.

A short time later, a second victim, Kevin Wright, 32, arrived at a fire station in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, the report said. Murder investigators determined that the two shootings were likely related.

Three suspects were named in the investigation, including 29-year-old YFN Lucci. The other two suspects were caught, police said.

YFN Lucci is an Atlanta resident best known for his 2017 hit “Everyday We Lit” and 2020’s “Wet (She Got That …).”
