At least 3 dead in 70-vehicle wreckage due to weather in Fort Worth, Texas, police say

The wreckage occurred along Interstate 35W in Fort Worth and shut down all lanes at the crash site, reports CNTV, KTVT. It happened around 6 a.m. CT near Northeast 28th Street, city police officer Daniel Segura told CNN.

“The weather conditions are definitely a factor in this massive multiple-car crash,” Segura told CNN.

Ice storm causes treacherous roads and the vaccination of Covid-19 is delayed by the south

Areas with light freezing rain and some rainfall were in the Dallas-Fort Worth area Thursday morning. About one inch of ice had accumulated just north of Fort Worth, the National Weather Service said.

The area is a winter weather advice until 18:00 due to the accumulation of ice, which will lead to a very slippery sidewalk, roads and bridges, the weather service said.

“So much traffic / accidents this morning, especially across the DFW Metroplex,” the Fort Worth National Weather Service said in a tweet. “These events are so dangerous because the ice is spotty. We can not stress enough that road conditions within blocks can go from good to dangerous. Take it slow out there … #dfwwx #ctxwx #txwx.”

Due to the wreckage, I-35 was backed in both directions from I-30 to I-820 on Thursday morning, police in Fort Worth said on Twitter.
