Asus updates Zephyrus G14 and G15 with latest AMD and Nvidia chips

The ROG Zephyrus G14 is one of the best laptops we saw in 2020, in part because of its exceptional Ryzen 9 4900HS processor. Asus has updated the Zephyrus G14 (plus its bigger brother, the Zephyrus G15) with the latest chips from AMD and Nvidia.

In addition to the slide upgrades, both models have new display options. The G14 now has a 144Hz panel. There is also a 2K 120Hz model that according to Asus covers the full DCI-P3 color gamut. The G15 has a 165Hz QHD screen, also with 100 percent DCIP-3 coverage.

Asus has also added new animations to its Anime Matrix (the grid of LED lights that cover the lid of the G14). There is now a virtual pet that can live on the exhibit and communicate with you. It sounds very cute (and also possibly strange to bystanders).

The G15 got a bit of a redesign. It inherited the G14’s ErgoLift hinge, which lifts the keyboard deck slightly off the ground to improve cooling (and comfortably hide the bottom of the bottom). It also has a larger touchpad than its predecessor – 20 percent larger, to be exact. Asus has also added an additional microphone (there were two, and there are now three).

The Zephyrus G15 in Eclipse Gray is open, sloping to the right. The ROG logo is displayed on the screen.

Here it is in ‘darkening gray’.

Both models have larger 90Wh batteries (and the G14’s battery life has been pretty good already). Asus says you download more than ten hours of the G15. Both also have enhanced speakers with brand new Dolby Atmos software and two-way AI noise cancellation. However, there are no webcams to see yet.

The G14 and G15 are available in the first quarter of 2021. Asus has not yet announced whether the price will change. Current models start at $ 1,049.
