Just when you thought CES 2021 wasn’t delivering too much on the Chromebook front, ASUS appeared and blew the doors off with not one, but two, but three new Chromebooks for the coming year. Two of them like the latest 11th generation Tiger Lake processors from Intel and the other one is the first from ASUS with an AMD Ryzen processor inside. All three will be released by the second quarter of 2021, and all three are great to watch, and this continues ASUS ‘trend of attractive, interesting Chromebooks for the coming year. Let’s investigate what has been announced.
ASUS Chromebook CX9
First up is the ASUS Chromebook CX9, a premium Chromebook door-to-door that is the Chrome OS variation of the newly announced ExpertBook B9 running Windows. This device is by far the best Chromebook from ASUS to date and is equipped with all the bells and whistles you would expect in the best hardware. Featuring the ASUS-branded NanoEdge display, an ultra-light 2.2 lb chassis, premium materials and a slim 16mm profile, this device looks completely open as well as open.

ASUS Chromebook Flip C536
This next device is the spiritual successor to the Flip C434 and C436. Although it will be known as the Flip CX5 in some areas, ASUS goes by the model name Flip C536 in most regions. Again, this striking Chromebook looks amazing and converts ASUS ‘previous formula to a 15.6-inch design for the convertible Chromebook. This is ASUS ‘first foray into a convertible of this size, so it’s going to be interesting to see it in person. Although the CX9 wants to be marketed to creative and professional people, this one is aimed at a younger audience with ‘Stadiums and GeForce NOW Compatibility’ as a feature.
ASUS says that it is designed to appeal to those who have a minimalist look and use it for personal or work use. The interior has an “obsidian velvet” texture and the exterior sections are treated with a ceramic-like finish, giving this Chromebook a simple, unique aesthetic that looks honestly beautiful.

Finally, ASUS also unveiled a Chromebook that was not part of their video on stage, but is still important. It looks like a Chromebook similar to the ASUS Chromebook Flip C536, the CM5 swaps the 11th generation Tiger Lake processor options for some AMD Ryzen chips and holds the same “obsidian velvet” palm rests, 57Wh battery, screen size and Flip . nomenclature while swapping the white exterior for a Mineral Gray finish on the outside to complete the dark look
In a move we have not yet seen in a Chromebook, this device has orange marked keys on the sides of the device and orange outlines around the ASDW keys that promote a little more of the game aesthetically. While it’s not better or worse to utilize cloud games than any other Chromebook, it’s a striking look that may appeal to quite a few buyers.
