Asus ROG Phone 5 leaks in two colors in new versions

Gaming smartphones have become a niche of their own in the smartphone industry, and the Asus ROG phone range has been one of the best options throughout. The next generation of the device is apparently starting tomorrow, but before the launch, versions of the official Asus ROG Phone 5 appeared on the Internet and displayed two color versions.

Shared on Twitter, Ishan Agarwal has released a handful of images from the Asus ROG Phone 5, revealing the famous design in its 2021 version. Not a ton has honestly changed, with only a few minor design tweaks. For example, there is a mysterious red panel with a cute ‘GL HF!’ Easter egg printed on it. There’s also a dot matrix section that definitely looks like it’s going to be adaptable, and maybe acts like Asus offers on its Zephyrus G14 laptop.

Two USB-C ports are still in use, there is still a headphone jack and the screen still has a properly sized ring at the top / bottom. However, I would say that this is definitely the cleanest design for a ROG phone to date.

Notably, the Asus ROG Phone 5 will be released in two different colors, a first for the series. Until now it was always only available in black / gray, but this year a white color is on the way like Ishan Agarwal again shared on his Twitter account. The white variant looks smooth, especially with its blue accent and black siding.

As for the specs, the ROG Phone 5 will only use the Snapdragon 888 processor, surely also with an insane behind-the-scenes cooling technology. Last week, a press release also unexpectedly confirmed that this phone is available with up to 18 GB of RAM. That’s right, eighteen. With most other Android flagships running 8-12 GB on top, 18 GB is just absurd, but it seems like it’s right for a phone that’s literally called ‘Republic of Gamers’. Will the amount mean anything for performance? Probably not.
