Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Gets New Capabilities But Only If You Disconnect Your Console From The Internet

A few weeks back, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players spotted a handful of new abilities in the game’s extensive skill tree. Then those abilities disappeared.

Following Valhallasay mid-December update, which made the precipitate Yuletide Festival, each of the game’s three skill trees (Bear, Raven, Wolf) has expanded with two nodes. The first of each tree was a carbon copy of the node “let fate lead your way” with which you can award the skill points to yourself; the second was a real ability. The Bear Tree received the Fight Ready skill, giving a complete adrenaline rush at the start of each fight. The Wolf Tree can unlock Arrow Looter, increasing your chances of looting arrows from archers. The Raven tree got Assassin Carry, allowing players to automatically pick up a corpse after an assassination. All three of these new lines branch directly from the city center of Valhalla‘s skill tree, so you do not have to throw dozens of points into each branch to clear and unlock a path.

The catch is that these three abilities do not always show up Valhalla‘s skill tree.

None of the three abilities were mentioned the patch notes for the December update. Some players saw them briefly appear before disappearing during subsequent play sessions. Today, at least on Xbox Series X, I can still see the “fate” buttons branching out, ineffectively, from the middle of Valhallaskills tree, while the three new abilities are wrongsing.

I can get them to show up again by turning off my console from the internet and restarting my game, after which I am greeted by a notification that the Yule festival is over. When I connect my console to the internet, it gets cleaned up. Some players say they subsequently lost any permitted skill points. Mine was repaid for what it’s worth. When I go online again, the refunded skill points are automatically applied to any of the new skills I unlocked.

If your console is connected to the internet, you basically do not have access to these capabilities. If it is disconnected, you can.

Asked about the issue, Ubisoft acknowledges that some players have access to these skills, but says they are “not ready for release yet” and recommends that players play online, if possible, to “avoid problems with the game” . “

Tell the truth, you do not miss much. None of the abilities are terribly game-changing (though Assassin Carry is admittedly a nice quality-of-life upgrade). But they suggest big things ahead Valhallais already a Byzantine web of skills. Why include an emergency node for just one capability? Why are these new abilities popping up after the apparent end of the Yuletide festival?

The Yuletide Festival takes place on January 7th. Ubisoft does not have specific release dates for Valhalla‘s two announced extensions, Wrath of the Druids and The siege of Paris, and also did not set out any new skills that may join the game along with the campaigns.
