Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gets a new River Raids mode in tomorrow’s title update • Eurogamer.net

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gets another helping of free content after the launch – including a ‘highly repeatable’ new River Raids mode – as part of its latest title update, which arrives on all platforms tomorrow, February 16th.

Ubisoft has not yet shared much in the details of River Raids mode, but says it will take adventurers to unexplored regions of the UK, spread across three new maps. Before the attacks begin, however, players are encouraged to build the new Jomsviking Hall settlement building to recruit more Jomsvikings to carry along for support, with new loot, rewards and challenges promised along the way.

Valhalla’s latest title update, which is considered part of the game’s first season of content after its launch, also offers a number of new skills and abilities.

The Berserker Trap, for example, can be attached to an arrow and is caused by proximity movement, the distribution of hallucinatory powder, while the Battle Cry ability produces a blood-curdling scream, which increases Eivor’s power and causes enemies to stumble and their attacks interrupt. There is also a new Shoulder Bash that repels enemies and destroys objects.

On the new skills front, after a successful assassination, players can move a body using Assassin Carry, while Assassin Slide can be used to take care of enemies on a sprint and knock them off balance. Arrow Looter increases Eivor’s chances of looting archery arrows, Fight Ready begins a battle with an adrenaline-filled slot, Power Stroke delivers a long ship raise for endurance, and Long Ship Brace lets the crew share their shields with you light you command the vessel.

This is accompanied by a series of life improvements, balance adjustments and bug fixes, as outlined in the Ubisoft Title 1.1.2 update.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s content support after the launch will continue in March with the start of season 2, with another game mode, new festivals, equipment and cosmetics. Seasons 3 and 4 are planned for later in the year, and two large-scale season pass expansions are also underway. Anger of the Druids – inspired by Gaelic myths – occurs this spring, and The Siege of Paris is expected to arrive sometime in the summer.
