A Las Vegas jury has awarded $ 29.5 million to the family of 27-year-old model and aspiring actress Chantel Giacalone after she was treated insignificantly by a MedicWest ambulance.
The 27-year-old model fell into an anaphylactic shock during a Las Vegas rally in February 2013 after taking a bite out of a peanut butter cracker. Giacalone’s lawyer allegedly argued that a MedicWest ambulance crew at the scene was not equipped with IV adrenaline, an adrenaline treatment, which is being commissioned by the Southern Nevada Health District. Due to the lack of equipment, Giacalone lost oxygen for a period of time, which eventually led to brain damage. While MedicWest refutes any violation on their part, attorney William Drury argued that the model never lost consciousness.
