A new hymn has been read in the universe of Cuba’s urban music. Patria y Vida is the new theme that reunites the talent and the compromise of Maykel Osorbo, El Funky, Yotuel, Gente de Zona, Descemer Bueno y otros músicos cubanos.
“If you have five new ones and you have two doubles, then you will be over the domino”, says the strip of a song that describes the decadence of the Cuban totalitarian regime after more than ten years of right and liberties in the people.
It is Yotuel who has started this moving poem that has raised the sentiment of a people who have been accused of repression, lies and the manipulation of their governors. “Hoy yo te invito a caminar por mis solares / pa ‘demostrarte de qué sirven tus ideales”, abre diciendo el ex integrante de Orishas.
“What do we celebrate about the spirit of the prize / exchange between Guevara and Martí for the division?”, Yotuel asks the devastating economic panorama of the island. “Everything has changed, and it’s not the same / between you and I have an abyss”.
For its part, the voices of Randy Malcom and Alexander Delgado are set to transmit in their verses the drama of a people who are trying to regain their dignity. “We are the dignity of a pisoteado pueblo entero / a point of pistol and palabras that hoy son nada”.
“No more mentions / The people can be liberated, no more doctrine / There is no gritemio patria o muerte sino Patria y Vida”, dicen las voces de Gente de Zona con su sin timfondible An aggregation with a trayectoria in the last times describes an ethical reflection that its integrants have kept the value of affronting; just as Descemer Bueno, music with the collaborator on the hit Bailando, together with Enrique Iglesias.
Patria and Vida endure with the votes of Maykel Osorbo and El Funky, the two contestants who reside in Cuba and challenge the monopoly of violence that owns a totalitarian state. Recently, both rappers, fans of the San Isidro Movement (MSI), organized an online concert to raise funds to help Denis Solís, the rapper was inadvertently encroached upon and initiated by the MSI hamburger.
