As virus cases pile up, figures tell the story

In the three months, the province recorded 12,079 of its cases and 119 of its confirmed and suspected deaths. That means those three months, as of March 4, account for nearly 67 percent of the country’s total property tax and more than half of the country’s total deaths.

In November, the province counted 3,780 cases and 30 deaths. In December, the cases confirmed a high of 4,235 and the deaths a total of 30. In January, the cases dropped slightly to 4,064 confirmed and the deaths a high of 59.

In February, there were 1,182 confirmed cases and 13 deaths, a significant decrease in winter. This trend has continued so far in March as the province and the country see a decrease in cases and deaths.

However, the trend has recently become more of a national plateau, and health officials have advised states to weaken restrictions too much. Despite a year of drastic change, the path to beating the coronavirus remains the same: wear a mask, wash your hands, stay away and get vaccinated when it’s your turn.
