Army reservist who took part in the Capitol uprising was well-known white supremacist

Prosecutors revealed late Friday that an Army reservist who looted the Capitol during the riot on Jan. 6 was known as a white supremacist who made anti-Semitic remarks during his performance at a Navy facility in New Jersey.

Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, who was a security contractor at Naval Weapons Station Earle and was familiar with secret intelligence, was arrested in January and described at the time as a “recognized white supremacist” and Nazi sympathizer. However, prosecutors in Friday submitted the details of interviews with 44 of his colleagues that highlighted the extent of his major beliefs.

” A naval non-commissioned officer said the accused constantly talked about the Jewish people and recalled that the accused said ‘Hitler should have finished the job,’ ‘the prosecutors wrote in the documentation, which was intended to argues for the continued detention of Hale-Cusanelli while awaiting trial.

One respondent said Hale-Cusanelli had ‘extremist or radical views on the Jewish people, minorities and women’, and another said he expressed daily hatred towards Jews.

Prosecutors also detailed the contents of his personal phone, which they said contained anti-Semitic and racist content as part of his “fantasy of taking part in another civil war.”

Hale-Cusanelli’s lawyer argued that he deserved a release before the trial and that he was not a white supremacist, but prosecutors dismissed the argument, pointing to the plethora of comments he made to colleagues and on his phone.

The latest submission highlights the involvement of white supremacists in the January 6 uprising, which sought to stop the certification of the Electoral College’s results of the 2020 presidential election in vain.

Several far-right groups are known to have taken part in the uprising, and in the video, several rioters can see racist remarks. It was also seen that a Confederate flag was waved over the Capitol as soon as insurgents entered the building.

Hale-Cusanelli’s involvement also underscores the task with which policymakers are trying to eradicate the white rule of the military.
