Arizona sheriff dismisses Biden’s immigration actions as ‘political theater’: ‘Stop this madness’

An Arizona sheriff on Monday warned President Biden’s executive orders on immigration were ‘urgent’ and urged the president to ‘stop this madness’.

Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels also told Fox & Friends on Monday that the ‘political theater being played out’ must be scary for all of us at the Southwest Border, sheriffs, police departments and our federal partners, and every American. this. ‘

Dannels pointed to statistics from 2019 and noted that more than 1,000 gang members representing more than a dozen countries crossed the southwestern border that year. He added that thousands of children were being exploited by the cartels as fraud and that there had been hundreds of assaults on federal agents.

“It shows back how vulnerable our southwestern border is to include every American in this country if we do not have a safe border,” Dannels said.

In his first week in office, President Biden signed a number of executive orders, including the administration’s moratorium on deportation of 100 days. Before Biden’s inauguration, a large wagon pulled to the southern border of America.

The Associated Press reported the week before Biden was sworn in as president, two groups of more than 3,000 Honduran migrants each moved to Guatemala without registering as part of a larger caravan that was heading to the United States. A third group entered Guatemala on Saturday. The migrants hoped to reach Mexico, which is north of Guatemala, and eventually move to the U.S. border.

A second migrating caravan was to depart Honduras on Monday, days after security forces in Guatemala stopped the first caravan of the year during a series of violent clashes where asylum seekers were met with tear gas and batons, The Daily Mail reported last week.

“We’ve worked so well over the years and it’s just common sense why we need a safe border,” Dannels said.

He pointed to statistics in Cochise County and noted that the 800 cameras deployed in the area showed double the number of illegal immigrants entering the country since last year when Biden became the Democratic candidate.

“One thing that bothers me as a sheriff who has served on the Southwest Border for 37 years is the fact that the lessons of the past are still being played out by the presidency in Congress,” Dannels added.

He also pointed out that “Donald Trump was at the table to have a very positive, proactive relationship with President Trump to work out community issues.”

“Police chiefs and sheriffs are experts in communities. Our federal government is supposed to be experts in national security and border security,” Dannels said.

“Together, it’s a recipe for success for every American, and what I see now is that we go back in time and play this political theater at the back and the risks of every American.”

President Biden signed 17 executive actions during his first day in office – many of which overturned Trump administration policies and regulations – such as the cancellation of funding and construction of boundary walls.

Dannels noted on Monday that the border wall ‘was a positive protection for our country’ and that it was ‘sad’ to see progress made to a halt.

He added: ‘We have been on the road before. I do not know why we could not look at the past and balance in our processes, find our programs and stop this madness. ‘
