Public health officials in Arizona on Saturday reported 819 new cases of coronavirus, as well as 30 additional deaths due to COVID-19.
According to the ADHS COVID-19 dashboard, the last documented total of the state was 849,021 COVID-19 infections and 17,092 deaths.
The dashboard also showed that 4,032,557 doses of vaccines were administered in the state, with 2,529,589 people (35.2% of the state’s population) receiving at least one shot and 1,655,985 people being fully vaccinated.
The number of confirmed or suspected COVID-19 inpatients in state hospitals rose to 576 on Friday. The number of ICU beds used by COVID-19 patients dropped by two to 149.
The State Health Department’s daily updates of the case, mortality and testing data are available after the statistics are received and confirmed, which may be delayed by a few days or longer. It does not represent the actual activity during the last 24 hours.
The hospital data posted each morning is electronically reported the night before by hospitals across the state.
COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, has no effect on some people and is severely debilitating or deadly to others. Infected people without symptoms – which include coughing, fever and breathing problems – can spread the virus.
Diagnostic tests are available in hundreds of locations in Arizona and should be sought by someone with symptoms or who has been exposed to an infected person. Information on places, schedules and registration can be found on the website of the Department of Health Services.
All adults are eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines from state-owned enterprises and other suppliers in Maricopa County, with a minimum age of 16 for the Pfizer survey and 18 for Moderna or Johnson & Johnson versions.
Appointments at the five state-run mass vaccination centers for next week will be made available every Friday at 11 a.m., but it won’t be long.
For more information on the availability of vaccines across the country, the ADHD website has a vaccination page with a map with locations and information on registration and eligibility.
Maricopa County Public Health has an interactive map with pharmacies, government-run websites, health clinics and pop-up distribution events for information on the availability of vaccines in Phoenix.
