Indie musician Ariel Pink has been fired from his label after confirming he attended the Trump rally that led to the violent attack on the American Capitol.
“Due to recent events, Mexican Summer and its staff have decided to end our working relationship with Ariel Rosenberg AKA Ariel Pink,” tweeted the New York-based record company Friday.
(As of Friday afternoon, Pink’s page on the Mexican Summer Web site was still active.)
The announcement comes just a day after Pink’s explanation on Twitter that he attended the Washington rally to “show my support for the president peacefully.”
‘I attended the rally on the white house’s lawn and went back to hotel and took an afternoon nap. case closed, ”he said tweeted Thursday in response to a Twitter user asking Pink and his fellow indie musician John Maus to take part in Wednesday’s event.
Although Pink confirmed that he attended the DC rally to demonstrate the outcome of the presidential election, he denied that he was part of the mob that stormed the Capitol while Congress conducted the formal process of electing the elect. President Joe Biden to ratify President Trump.
Pink, born Ariel Marcus Rosenberg in Los Angeles, was open about his support for Trump and encouraged people to vote for him before this week’s violent events.
