Musician Ariel Pink on Wednesday unveiled his proof of support for President Trump in Washington, DC, the same day protesters stormed the U.S. Capitol building, killing riots and killing at least five people.
Social media users began criticizing Pink, 42, after a photo appeared on Instagram showing him and musician John Maus with filmmaker Alex Lee Moyer in a hotel in the city.
Pink, an indie artist, responded to the conversation by claiming he was actually in Washington, DC, but instead of going to the Capitol building, he stayed on the White House lawn.
“I was in DC to support my president peacefully. I attended the demonstration on the lawn of the White House and went back to the hotel and took an afternoon nap. The case was closed,” he replied to one of his followers.

Meanwhile, Moyer claims in an email to Pitchfork that he met with the musicians in the city to discuss a project unrelated to Wednesday’s events. Then she felt “obliged to record what was happening” in Washington, DC as events unfolded.

A look at Pink’s Twitter account shows that he has spoken out about his support for Trump. The artist tweeted Thursday: “vote for Trump.” He also previously shared his views on Joe Biden’s presidential victory.
Congress confirmed the Electoral College, which gave Democrat Joe Biden his presidential victory on Thursday.
Of Biden’s impending presidency, Pink said he had come to the “sober realization that this is probably the worst case scenario.”
