Upgrading to a new smartphone can be one of the most enjoyable experiences, especially if your device has not been upgraded in several years. Between the improved performance, better cameras and new features, there is a lot to like about a shiny new phone.

One challenge with upgrading is to keep seamlessly where you left off, but most manufacturers allow you to copy all your data from an old phone to a new device. Is this something that Android Authority readers do, or do you prefer to start with a clean slate? Let us know by taking the poll below.

I tend to start fresh with new phones, whether they are personal upgrades or devices used for testing / review purposes. This helps Google back up a lot of data to your account anyway, such as contacts, email, photos and more. I also have a link of favorite apps that I end up downloading from the Play Store every time I set up a new phone, and some apps like WhatsApp also have a cloud backup.

I can definitely see why people want to copy all their data from their old phones. This means you do not have to spend a lot of time setting things up the way you want them to, so you can actually use your shiny new phone.
