The pandemic generated by COVID-19 has had a very relevant impact on the mental health of all the population, also in the adolescents, now with an app that can help them manage their emotions and increase their mental well-being.
One of the first studies available on the emotional impact of the quarantine on the mines of Spain and Italy, conducted by the University of Miguel Hernandez of Alicante, reveals that 85.7% of fathers have found changes in their emotional state and behavior in their homes, specifically problems of concentration, disinterest, irritability, agitation, nervousness, feelings of well-being, anxiety and preoccupation.
To prevent these situations in young people between 16 and 22 years old, a team of European research, in which the Laboratory of Psychology and Technology of the University of Castellón I developed the MyMoodCoach app. An application that offers a series of evaluation and treatment strategies that allow the young people to increase the compensation of the emotions and emotional abilities.
Through MyMoodCoach, the young people have the ability to monitor and learn about their emotional responses in their daily diary. For this purpose, the application poses a series of recommendations based on the current Ecological Ecological Evaluation (EMA), is the evaluation of the conduct of the affective states at the time that occurs, which allows the application to offer personalized strategies according to the responses proportioned by the users.
An application for mental well-being
Among these gifts can be removed: el Emotional monitor to help register the emotional state of a diary or a Emotion Explorer that allows beskrywe como if the user, where is, with whom is, that is thinking or thinking, with fast minutes of a single minute. Thanks to the register of mediating emotions these mechanisms, the user learns about the circumstances that influence in his state of mind to understand how affronters.
These strategies serve as an objective to increase the emotional appetite, so to speak, the abilities to understand and manage the emotions with the end of potentiating aspects such as mental well-being, social relations or academic and labor satisfaction. In addition, the app applies intervention strategies based on the profile of each user through the evaluation of various aspects such as the emotional competence or the levels of psychological maladaptation, presented in the initial evaluation and then allow evaluations to be performed.
With the completion of these objectives, the research team will conduct empirical studies centered on adolescents and young adults between 16 and 22 years of age. The first, named PROMOTE Trial, which evaluates the effectiveness of the application to increase health and psychological well-being of young people. And the second, VOORKOM verhoor, analyzes the efficacy of the application to reduce the incidence of depression in adolescents with a risk of psychopathology and deficit of emotional competence.
