Miami Dolphins add quarterback Charlie Frye
The Miami Dolphins have not yet appointed an attacking coordinator, and the speculation is that they are waiting for a coach who is currently in the playoffs. Can anyone be Ken Dorsey?
Ken Dorsey is an interesting candidate for the Dolphins’ vacant OC spot. Dorsey, who was hired by Sean McDermott in 2019 to coach backs, turned Josh Allen’s career around. The question fans are asking is whether he is the target for Brian Flores or not?
Earlier today, the Dolphins signed Charlie Frye as the team’s QB coach. This move was made without a staff corps, but what is interesting is that Dorsey and Frye were teammates in Cleveland during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. They remained good friends.
Many in league circles believe that Dorsey is ready for the leap to OC. Brian Daboll, who currently serves as OC for the bills, was expected to leave for an HC job. That will not happen this year. Dorsey was in line for the promotion, which will not happen again either.
Dorsey has a history in Miami that led the Hurricanes to a national championship and was a second place finisher in the Heisman Trophy. He set most of the pass records for the Hurricanes during his time there. His pro career has not been great for a long time.
As a coach, Dorsey would make a lot of sense for Brian Flores and could give the Dolphins some stability in the position for a few years. He would also be a great teacher for Tua Tagovailoa.
Clearly, we do not know what Flores thinks, but Dorsey may be the target. Hiring Frye will make a lot of sense, and the fact that the Dolphins have not hired anyone indicates that they can wait for a playoff team to finish their season. Maybe next week we will know more when the bills are eliminated on Sunday night.
