Arctic cold and the potential for a significant winter storm

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and cool. Lowest of 0 (-10 to 5). Wind and light and erratic.

SUNDAY: Cloudy. Avalanches develop in the north of PA 40%. High of 25 (22-26). Wind from the east at 3-8 km / h.

Forecast discussion:

With less clouds tonight and calm winds, temperatures will drop tonight. Areas west of I-81 will flirt with temperatures near zero, while east of I-81 will be below zero. By tomorrow afternoon, the temperature is coming back nicely again as it gets hot in the mid 20s.

The most important story in the weather department tonight is the potential for a major winter storm Sunday night through Tuesday. Models indicate that it is likely to be a long snow event that could cause some places to bury snow under a foot.
