Arby’s sells Shovel Knight baby food by DLC

We’ve lost track of how many crossovers and comos Shovel Knight has made since the franchise’s only game was launched seven years ago. The count is easily north of two dozen intersections and can be three or more. The man gets more work than Barry Manilow in Vegas. And his latest concert is at Arby.

Arby’s Kids Meals has a launcher token that contains code for some DLCs Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove on Nintendo Switch and Windows PC via Steam. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is the December 2019 re-release packed into three additional campaigns. (It’s also available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but Arby’s DLC will not work there.)

An Arby’s tweet does not say what exactly this DLC does, although it looks like each of the five characters of Shovel Knight will get some sort of cosmetic, whether a weapon or a skin. It’s interesting that Plague Knight needs to be renamed ‘Doctor Knight’ (probably quotes), probably because it’s a baby food and we’re still dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Anyway, there you go. From an indie-backlash platformer funded by Kickstarter, to a fast-food franchise’s kids’ food. This is the American dream that came to life.
