A new iMac is coming, and this time around the rumors that Apple is finally ready to replace the show – ohr at least release a larger version as the 27-inch screen we are all used to.

Per MacRumors, credible leak l0vetodream tweeted over the weekend: “The iMac’s screen is really big, bigger than the biggest.” This in itself may seem like nothing, but it’s important to keep in mind that Apple has not redesigned the iMac in almost a decade. The last time we saw a design refresh was in 2012. Of course, the line saw upgraded components Over the years, however, the iMac has stagnated in the design department, especially when compared to Apple’s other products.

Back in January, Bloomberg reports that the new all-in-one iMac is likely to follow the design directions of Apple’s Pro Display XDR monitor. In terms of size, that would mean we’re looking at a possible 32-inch screen. While the 27-inch screen is considered the flagship, Apple also offers a smaller 21.5-inch version. Per Tom’s Guide, it can also grow up to 24 inches larger.

These are some important real estate upgrades. This is especially true if you consider that the new iMacs have a slimmer edge. Apple will also remove the hideous metal leg on the bottom of the current iMacs, as well as the curved back in a flat shave. The move sounds similar to what Apple did with the iPhone SE and the iPhone 12 Mini. By tightening the home button and edges, the iPhone Mini was able to push the screen size to 6.7 inches from the SE’s teenage 4.7-inch screen.

Bloomberg cites anonymous Apple sources that the iMac redesign is “one of the biggest visual updates of any Apple product this year”. And while a larger, almost ring-free screen would be a clear change, that would not be all. which differs from the Pro Display XDR. Appellant Jon Prosser family play late in February that the iMac would come in several colors: silver, space gray, green, sky blue and rose gold. It would definitely be a “great visual update, and would be incredibly reminiscent of the colorful iMacs of yesteryear, while matching neatly with the new iPhone 12 colors. However, Prosser has a very good record with Apple rumors, so take it with a big salt grain.

What we do know is that the new iMacs will be the first to use Apple Silicon, which will 2020 iMac the last one with an Intel chip. Apple began moving Intel-powered devices to its own ARM-based SoC last year, so it makes perfect sense to redesign the design of the iMac. now. A ‘major visual update’ will help consumers easily distinguish the upcoming iMacs as part of the Apple Silicon-powered era. This is reinforced by the fact that Apple has also been clearing its iMac inventory in recent weeks. Llast month, Apple end the iMac Pro. A few weeks later these were two more configurations of the 21.5-inch iMac.

Rumor has it that Apple hosted a launch event in March, which was later reviewed April. (Allegedly, Apple sowed those rumors themselves to eradicate leaks.) There’s little chance we’ve heard of the new iMacs then – though it’s likely Apple will use a new iPad Pro and Air Tags. We’ll probably have to wait a few more months before we know what the new iMacs really look like, but it’s fair to say that big changes are coming.
