Apple tests new way to unlock an iPhone without removing a face mask

appeal (AAPL) test new iOS software that allows it people to unlock their iPhone’s face recognition security tool, Face ID, if they also happen to be wearing an Apple Watch.
At the moment, Face ID recognizes when someone is wearing a mask and causes the password access screen to appear – an update that Apple began testing in May.

But the latest update, which is part of a beta test for developers, is likely to roll out broadly soon, an iPhone can communicate with a synced Apple Watch when the phone is raised to use Face ID.

Once the verification is complete – the devices should be close – the iPhone will unlock automatically and the Apple Watch will vibrate.

Apple said users would have to choose this feature.

For security reasons, the update only works to unlock the phone; users will still need to enter a passcode to make transactions through Apple Pay, the App Store or iTunes if they are wearing a mask.

The latest update is both another step forward in wearing a mask during the pandemic and a possible incentive for Apple customers to purchase a smartwatch, or at least the one they use regularly.

While Apple’s latest mobile operating system was launched in September, the company is constantly releasing updates to fix bugs or introduce new features. Later in the spring, Apple will also expect to introduce a new requirement that users give explicit permission for apps to track it on the Internet.
