Apple Seeds Releases Candidate Version of macOS Big Sur 11.2 to Developers and Public Beta Testers

Apple today unveiled the RC version of an upcoming MacOS Big Sur 11.2 update for development purposes, with the new beta appearing a week after the second beta and two months after the first MacOS Big Sur release.

Developers can download the ‌‌‌macOS Big Sur‌‌‌ 11.2 beta using the Software Preferences mechanism in System Preferences after installing the correct profile in the Apple Developer Center.

OSMacOS Big Sur‌ 11.2 beta 2 eliminates a feature that allows Apple applications to bypass firewalls, security tools, and VPN applications. OSMacOS Big Sur‌ 11 includes a ContentFilterExclusionList that allows Apple applications such as the App Store, Maps, iCloud, and more to avoid firewall and VPN applications that users have installed. These apps could not filter traffic for some built-in Apple apps. This feature has been removed in bonemacOS Big Sur‌ 11.2.

When ‌macOS Big Sur‌ 11.2 sees a version, Apple applications will be compatible with VPN applications and can no longer bypass firewalls and other security tools.

According to Apple’s release notes, the update also improves the reliability of Bluetooth and contains several bug fixes.

OSMacOS Big Sur‌ 11.2 improves Bluetooth reliability and solves the following issues:
– External monitors can display a black screen when connected to a Mac mini (M1, 2020) using an HDMI-to-DVI converter
Changes to Apple ProRAW Photos in the Photos app may not be saved
– Shut down iCloud Drive after disabling the CloudiCloud Drive‌ Desktop & Documents Folders option
– System Preferences may not be unlockable when you enter your administrator password
– Globe key cannot display the Emoji & Symbols window when pressed

The update addresses an issue that could cause external monitors to display a black screen when paired with a ‌M1‌ ‌Mac mini‌ using an HDMI-to-DVI converter, and this resolves an issue has to edit Apple ProRaw photos in the ‌Photos‌ app not to save. It also includes fixes for CloudiCloud Drive‌, system preferences and more.
