Apple releases watchOS 7.4 public beta with new ‘Apple Watch Unlock’ feature for iPhone Face ID

Initially, it seemed like the public beta of iOS 14.5 arrived this afternoon without the watchOS 7.4. However, the latest watchOS beta is now available, it is only slightly hidden as it only appears after it was first upgraded to iOS 14.5. watchOS 7.4 provides the handy Apple Watch Unlock feature for iPhone when wearing a mask.

watchOS 7.4 public beta 1 arrives after the developer beta was cultured this past Monday. Funny enough, although we did not see it available today with the public beta 1 of iOS 14.5, it only appears after the update is installed on the iPhone.

watchOS 7.4 offers the much anticipated new Apple Watch Unlock feature for iPhone that works when Face ID notices that you are wearing a face mask, which allows you to successfully use your password.

Make sure you first upgrade your iPhone to the iOS 14.5 public beta, then you should see the watchOS public beta for 7.4 on iPhone appear in the Watch app> General> Software update.
