Apple releases watchOS 7.3 today with new Unity watches, ECG in more countries

watchOS 7.3 will be available to all Apple Watch users today. The latest version includes the new Unity watch collection, ECG coming to new countries, and bug fixes along with the new Time to Walk feature that officially launched yesterday.

Apple has announced that watchOS 7.3 will be released later today, January 26, in its press release on its Black History Month initiatives and the new Black Unity Apple Watch Series 6 and Sport Band. This comes after the RC building was released late last week. Check the Watch app on your iPhone> General> Software Update to see when the version is ready for you (usually around 10:00 PT / 13:00 ET).

The latest software update for Apple Watch features a new Unity watch collection inspired by the colors of the Pan-African flag. Apple says it has shapes that “change throughout the day as you move and create a face for you.” You can better explore the Unity watch faces here.

Along with the new Unity watch collection, Apple is introducing a special Apple Watch Series 6 and Black Unity Sport Band. It will be available from 1 February.

Apple launches the Black Unity Collection, designed to celebrate and recognize black history and black culture. The collection includes a limited edition Apple Watch Series 6, the Black Unity Sport Band and a Unity watch.

The ECG feature for Apple Watch Series 4 and later expands to four new countries with watchOS 7.3. These are Japan, Mayotte, Philippines and Thailand. These countries also receive the irregular heartbeat notifications.

As for the new Time to Walk feature for Apple Fitness + subscribers, it has been made available with an update to the server, even for users on watchOS 7.2, but 7.3 is probably optimized for that.

The update also includes performance enhancements and bug fixes for the Control Center and Notification Center.
