Apple News: Foldable iPhone Tests, AirPods Pro 2, more

foldable iPhone draft feature

This week in Apple News, we heard about the future of foldable iPhones. Apple has reportedly completed durability testing on two foldable prototypes. Of course, someone advises whether one of the models is going to pick it up in a commercial state, or when it might ever happen.

In other Apple news, we heard about the performances of upcoming iPad Pro models, AirPods Pro 2 rumors, Apple pulled a very inappropriate app from the App Store, the Mariah Carey Christmas special, and more.

Check out Apple’s news releases below for the latest.

The best news about Apple this past week:

  • Foldable iPhones go to the next stage: According to Economic daily news, Apple can work on no less than two foldable iPhone prototypes. It is possible that one may look like the model of third party above. According to EDN, the two prototypes were in a durability test phase and both were ‘graduated’ as it were. It’s unlikely that we’ll see a foldable iPhone in 2021, but it supports earlier rumors that a foldable is on the way.
  • iPad Pro with Mini-LED technology for Q1 2021: According to a DigiTimes Apple could launch a 12.9-inch iPad Pro somewhere in the next few months. This new iPad would probably be one of the first – if not the first – products of the company with Mini-LED technology. Theoretically, it could make the iPad’s performance even better than high-end OLED panels. However, we will have to wait and see if this is finally true.
  • AirPods Pro 2 can be in two sizes: A new hardware leak (found via MacRumors) suggests that the next version of AirPods Pro may have two sizes. This can be beneficial for people who think that the current AirPods are too big or too small, depending on the size of their ear canals.
  • Caviar Creates $ 108,000 AirPods Max: If you’ve not seen the AirPods Max before, because of their ridiculous price of $ 550, can we interest you to spend more than $ 100,000 more on a model dipped in gold? The Russian customization company Caviar now sells AirPods Max with a ‘pure gold’ finish. There is no word on how much heavier it will be the already heavy headphones.
  • Third party AirPods Max cases are finally available: Speaking of AirPods Max, another major complaint besides their price is their wallet-like case. Fortunately, third-party businesses are already working on solutions, with SFBags.com being one of the first. You can get a leather case for your new headphones for $ 99.
  • Xiaomi throws the charger out of the Mi 11 box, just like Apple: In news that everyone was expecting, Xiaomi announced this week that its new Mi 11 phones will not come with a charger in the box. This is noteworthy, as the company only made fun of Apple a few months ago for doing the same with the iPhone 12 series. However, Xiaomi is still offering the charger for free to those who want one, something Apple should have done too.
  • Apple removes the controversial app from the App Store: Apple this week pulled an app from the App Store called Vybe Together. At first glance, the app looks pretty standard. However, if you dig further, you will find that the specific purpose of the app is to help people organize private parties and address local regulations regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. The app’s official TikTok account has also been banned.
  • The Mariah Carey Christmas special was apparently a hit: On Apple TV Plus you can watch the Mariah Carey Magical Christmas Special. Apparently, the special success was enough that Apple asked Carey to do another one for the 2021 holiday season – with an unlimited budget. Serious. Maybe Apple wants to make it a tradition?
