Apple is working on a foldable iPhone, the report reads

Apple is one step closer to making its long-rumored foldable iPhone a reality.

The Cupertino, California-based technology giant, has allegedly asked manufacturer Foxconn to create two prototype shells to test potential future iPhone designs.

The two designs will differ greatly, reports Tom’s Guide, with one with a large screen folded in half, while the other two separate screens are connected by a hinge.

It’s unclear whether Apple plans to put out some foldable phones or to experiment to find the best design.

The report comes on the heels of an Apple patent application published last week for an ultra-flexible phone with a screen that can be folded in and out.

Apple recently released its latest family of iPhones, including its smallest iPhone in years, the 12 Mini.
